Repairing vs. Replacing Old Siding

Most of the time, the best option is a complete tear-off and replacement of the old siding. Otherwise, you’re only getting a short-term fix. After all, if the exterior is showing signs of damage, there’s likely more damage underneath the sub wall, in the trim around your windows, and other places as well.

Repairing Wood Siding

Composite siding lasts for decades, while less-durable types of siding, such as vinyl, aren’t as easy to repair. Wood siding, like T1-11, can be patched and made to look like new.

Damage to T1-11 siding is most commonly spotted early when the damage is minimal. To determine if your cedar or T1-11 siding can be patched, we inspect:

Check to see if the wood is soft or rotten
the base of your siding
the sub wall underneath
the areas around your window

Companies are unable to work on lead-based paint homes without this certification. We make sure that we are able to work on every home, without any issues, and that we are properly trained in the correct methods of how to remove siding with lead-based paint. I interviewed three other contractors, before settling on Elite. I knew I would be in good hands for this huge investment with Ian as he was genuine and sincere about providing the best result.  Both the siding and the paint crew are top notch professionals, with a great work ethic and attention to detail, they are Hardie trained so you can be sure the installation was done to the highest standard and it shows!
