Siding Contractor in Tigard, OR
James Hardie siding replacement, professional waterproofing, and complete exterior remodeling for Tigard homeowners.
Elite Home Exteriors NW is a trusted siding contractor serving Tigard, Oregon, specializing in complete siding replacement and James Hardie® fiber cement siding. We help homeowners replace aging, damaged, rotting, and moisture-prone siding with durable exterior systems designed for the wet Pacific Northwest climate.
A successful siding replacement is about much more than installing new boards. The weather-resistant barrier, window and door flashing, metal flashing, siding clearances, fasteners, sealants, and installation details all work together to help protect the structure behind your siding.
As a James Hardie Elite Preferred Alliance Contractor, Elite Home Exteriors NW follows James Hardie installation best practices while paying close attention to the moisture-management details that matter on Oregon homes.
Whether your Tigard home has failing engineered wood siding, aging cedar, cracked vinyl, deteriorating fiber cement, or hidden water damage, our goal is to provide a complete exterior solution built for long-term performance.

Replacing siding is an opportunity to do more than improve the appearance of your home. It gives us access to the exterior wall assembly so existing moisture problems, damaged sheathing, deteriorated framing, and improper flashing details can be identified and addressed before the new siding is installed.
Elite Home Exteriors NW specializes in complete siding replacement projects in Tigard and throughout the Portland metro area.
We commonly replace:
Our focus is not simply covering a home with new siding. We want the entire exterior wall system—from the sheathing outward—to be properly prepared, flashed, weather-protected, and finished.

James Hardie® fiber cement siding is one of our preferred siding systems for homes in Tigard because it combines durability, design flexibility, and relatively low maintenance.
Elite Home Exteriors NW is a James Hardie Elite Preferred Alliance Contractor serving Tigard and the greater Portland area.
We install a wide range of James Hardie siding products, including:
A classic horizontal siding profile available in wood-grain and smooth appearances. HardiePlank works well with many traditional, Craftsman, ranch, and contemporary homes throughout Tigard.
HardiePanel can create a clean vertical appearance and is frequently combined with trim to achieve popular board-and-batten designs.
HardieTrim can be incorporated around windows, doors, corners, transitions, and other architectural details to create a finished exterior.
Shake-style fiber cement siding can provide additional architectural detail on gables and accent areas without the maintenance demands associated with traditional cedar shakes.
For homeowners looking for a more contemporary exterior, we can also incorporate products from the James Hardie Architectural Collection.
Homeowners can also explore additional product information directly from James Hardie.
Tigard’s Pacific Northwest climate makes moisture management an important part of any exterior remodeling project.
Repeated exposure to rain and damp conditions can become a problem when siding, flashing, caulking, or the weather-resistant barrier no longer manages water properly.
James Hardie fiber cement siding is an excellent option for homeowners looking for a durable exterior that can resist many of the problems associated with traditional wood products.
Benefits include:
But even premium siding needs to be installed correctly.
The siding you see is only one part of the exterior system.
That is why Elite Home Exteriors NW puts significant emphasis on the waterproofing, flashing, and installation details underneath it.
One of the most important differences between siding contractors is what happens behind the finished siding.
Simply installing expensive siding over an improperly prepared wall does not correct underlying water-management problems.
During a complete Tigard siding replacement, our scope can include a comprehensive exterior weather-management system designed around the conditions of the home.
Depending on project specifications, this may include:
We use high-quality weather-resistant barrier systems such as Benjamin Obdyke HydroGap® where specified to help provide drainage and moisture management behind the siding.
Learn more about the weather barriers and flashing systems we install.
Windows and doors are critical areas of the exterior wall assembly.
Flashing membranes such as HydroFlash® can be integrated with the weather-resistant barrier to help direct water toward the exterior rather than allowing it into the wall assembly.
Proper metal flashing is installed where required at horizontal transitions and other vulnerable locations to help shed water away from the structure.
James Hardie lap siding butt joints are detailed according to applicable installation requirements.
We use premium exterior sealants such as OSI QUAD MAX where appropriate for exterior joints and penetrations.
Proper fastening is another important component of a long-lasting siding installation. Appropriate corrosion-resistant fasteners are selected based on the siding system and project requirements.
These details may not be as visually exciting as new siding, but they are some of the most important parts of a quality exterior remodel.
Oregon’s wet seasons can expose weaknesses in an aging or improperly installed exterior.
Some problems are obvious from the ground. Others remain hidden until the existing siding is removed.
Common issues include:
Wood and engineered wood siding can deteriorate after prolonged moisture exposure, especially near penetrations, trim, roof-to-wall transitions, decks, and areas close to grade.
Older engineered wood products can swell, deteriorate, or lose their protective surface as they age and absorb moisture.
Improperly flashed openings can allow water behind the siding and into the sheathing or framing.
Missing Z-metal or incorrectly detailed horizontal transitions can contribute to repeated moisture exposure.
Vinyl siding can become brittle, crack, loosen, or distort over time.
Cedar can provide a beautiful exterior, but neglected coatings, failed caulking, and repeated moisture exposure can eventually lead to deterioration.
One of the most important reasons to properly investigate a failing exterior is that the visible siding may only tell part of the story.
Moisture can travel behind the siding and damage plywood or OSB sheathing, framing, insulation, and areas around windows and doors.
Elite Home Exteriors NW has extensive experience identifying and repairing dry rot and water damage associated with larger siding replacement projects.
Not every siding problem means the entire exterior needs replacement, but homeowners should pay attention to signs of widespread deterioration.
Potential warning signs include:
If problems are widespread, complete siding replacement can provide an opportunity to address both the visible exterior and the wall assembly underneath it.
Discovering rot after siding removal does not automatically mean the project has gone wrong.
In many cases, removing the old siding is what finally allows concealed damage to be properly identified.
Once the wall is exposed, we can evaluate affected areas and determine what repairs are necessary before covering the structure with a new weather-resistant barrier and siding.
Depending on conditions, repairs may involve:
We believe damaged material should be addressed appropriately rather than simply hidden behind a new exterior.
A quality siding project requires much more than demolition and installation.
We inspect the existing siding and visible exterior conditions, discuss the homeowner’s concerns, and evaluate the overall scope of work.
We help determine the appropriate siding profile, trim details, accents, and finish options for the home.
The old siding is carefully removed so the underlying wall can be evaluated.
Once exposed, sheathing and accessible wall components can be inspected for deterioration or water damage.
Damaged areas within the siding project scope are repaired as required before the new exterior system is installed.
A properly detailed WRB is installed to create a secondary drainage plane behind the siding.
Membrane and metal flashing are incorporated where required to help manage water.
James Hardie siding and trim are installed following applicable manufacturer requirements and project specifications.
Required joints and penetrations are sealed, and primed siding projects can be professionally finished with high-quality exterior paint systems such as Sherwin-Williams products.
The completed exterior is reviewed for installation details, appearance, and overall workmanship.
Homeowners choosing pre-primed James Hardie siding can finish their exterior in virtually any appropriate paint color.
Elite Home Exteriors NW frequently uses premium Sherwin-Williams exterior coatings to finish our siding projects.
Combining siding replacement and painting under one project helps coordinate the siding, trim, caulking, preparation, and final finish for a consistent completed exterior.
Choosing a siding contractor should involve more than comparing siding brands and prices.
Installation quality and moisture-management details can have a major impact on the performance of the completed exterior.
Our James Hardie contractor status reflects our commitment to proper installation practices and professional standards.

An on-site evaluation is the best way to develop an accurate proposal.
