Replacing siding is about much more than changing the appearance of your home.
Your siding is part of an exterior system designed to help manage rain, wind, moisture, and changing temperatures. When siding or the components behind it begin to fail, moisture can reach the sheathing, framing, insulation, windows, and other areas of the structure.
At Elite Home Exteriors NW, our siding replacement projects can include:
Our goal is to give homeowners a complete exterior siding system—not simply cover existing problems with new material.
Homes throughout Tanasbourne, Hillsboro, Beaverton, and Washington County experience months of rain, damp conditions, and seasonal temperature changes.
Over time, improperly installed or aging siding can become vulnerable to moisture.
Common warning signs include:
Some of the most serious problems aren’t visible until the old siding is removed.
That is why we look beyond the surface.
One of the most important stages of a siding replacement project happens after the old siding comes off and before the new siding goes on.
Once the exterior is opened, we can evaluate accessible areas of the wall assembly for problems such as deteriorated sheathing, dry rot, damaged framing, failed flashing, deteriorated weather barriers, and evidence of previous moisture intrusion.
We have encountered projects where an exterior looked relatively normal while significant damage was developing underneath.
When deterioration is discovered during a siding replacement project, Elite Home Exteriors NW can address qualifying rot and structural repairs as part of the overall exterior renovation.
Covering damage with new siding doesn’t solve the problem.
Finding the cause, repairing damaged areas, and rebuilding the exterior correctly does.
James Hardie® fiber cement siding is one of our preferred siding systems for homes in Northwest Oregon.
Fiber cement siding provides the appearance of traditional siding while offering excellent resistance to many of the conditions that can cause other siding materials to deteriorate.
Popular options include:
A classic horizontal siding profile available in multiple textures and exposures. HardiePlank works well with traditional, Craftsman, contemporary, and many other architectural styles found throughout the Portland metro area.
Vertical siding can create a clean architectural appearance and works especially well on modern homes, gables, entry areas, and as an accent combined with lap siding.
Shake siding can add texture and architectural character without the maintenance demands associated with traditional cedar shakes. It is commonly used on gables and other accent areas.
Architectural panels and modern profiles provide additional options for homeowners looking for a more contemporary exterior design.

A beautiful siding installation can still fail if water-management details behind it are overlooked.
That is why we pay close attention to the building envelope.
Depending on the project requirements, our siding systems may incorporate premium products such as Benjamin Obdyke HydroGap® Drainable Housewrap and HydroFlash® flashing membranes.
A properly installed weather-resistant barrier helps provide a secondary drainage plane behind the siding.
We also pay close attention to vulnerable areas such as:
These details may eventually be hidden behind the finished exterior, but they are some of the most important parts of a quality siding replacement.
We evaluate your existing siding, trim, visible problem areas, and overall exterior condition and discuss your goals for the project.
You receive a detailed proposal outlining the planned siding system, materials, major installation components, and project scope.
Existing siding is carefully removed so the underlying exterior can be evaluated.
Once exposed, accessible sheathing and framing can be evaluated for deterioration or water damage. Necessary repairs outside the included scope are discussed before additional work proceeds.
The wall assembly is prepared with the appropriate weather-resistant barrier and flashing components for the project.
James Hardie siding, trim, and accessories are installed with careful attention to manufacturer requirements and exterior water management.
Applicable joints and penetrations are sealed, and pre-primed siding systems can be professionally painted with premium exterior coatings such as Sherwin-Williams® products.
We review the completed exterior and important finishing details before wrapping up the project.
Choosing a siding contractor isn’t only about finding someone who can install boards on a wall.
The contractor you hire is responsible for opening a major portion of your home’s exterior and rebuilding the system protecting what’s underneath.
We specialize heavily in James Hardie fiber cement siding and understand the installation details that can affect the performance and appearance of the finished system.
Our James Hardie contractor credentials demonstrate our commitment to professional installation and high-quality exterior remodeling.
We understand that siding, flashing, weather barriers, windows, trim, roofing transitions, and penetrations need to work together to manage water.
When old siding is removed, we know what warning signs to look for and how to approach deterioration discovered during the replacement process.
Elite Home Exteriors NW provides a more personal approach than high-pressure remodeling companies built around large sales teams.
We stand behind our siding installation workmanship with a Lifetime Workmanship Warranty for as long as the original homeowner owns the home, subject to the terms of the warranty.
Elite Home Exteriors NW is professionally licensed, bonded, and insured for the work we perform.
A siding system in Oregon has to deal with conditions that homeowners in drier parts of the country simply don’t experience at the same level.
Repeated rain and prolonged damp conditions make proper drainage and flashing especially important.
Our approach is built around the idea that water needs a controlled path down and away from the structure.
That means paying attention to the complete wall assembly—not simply the siding visible from the street.
This is particularly important around windows, doors, decks, rooflines, exterior penetrations, and other locations where water can potentially enter behind the siding.
Not every Tanasbourne home currently has fiber cement siding.
We replace many different types of existing siding, including:
Older engineered wood siding can experience swelling, edge deterioration, paint failure, and moisture-related damage as it ages.
Cedar can look beautiful, but older cedar siding may eventually require significant maintenance or replacement due to splitting, rot, paint failure, and moisture exposure.
Vinyl can crack, warp, loosen, fade, or conceal problems occurring behind the exterior.
Fiber cement is an excellent siding material, but installation details matter. We also encounter older fiber cement installations where flashing, clearances, weather barriers, joints, or other details were not completed correctly.
When replacing an existing exterior, we don’t assume the old installation was correct simply because it has been there for years.
Elite Home Exteriors NW provides siding replacement services throughout Tanasbourne and surrounding communities in Washington County.
Our nearby service areas include:
Working throughout the western Portland metro gives us firsthand experience with the siding materials, construction methods, weather exposure, and moisture-related problems common to Northwest Oregon homes.
There isn’t one siding product that’s right for every house, but James Hardie fiber cement siding is one of our preferred options for Northwest Oregon because of its durability, design options, and suitability for demanding exterior conditions when installed as part of a properly detailed wall system.

Yes. We frequently encounter deterioration after existing siding is removed. When qualifying damage is discovered during a full siding replacement project, we can evaluate the affected area and determine the appropriate repair before installing the new exterior system.
When the project scope calls for it, we install a new weather-resistant barrier as part of the siding replacement system rather than relying on an old or questionable layer underneath the existing siding.
Yes. New exterior window, door, corner, and other trim is commonly incorporated into our siding replacement projects.
Proper flashing integration is an important component of exterior water management. We evaluate project conditions and install applicable flashing components as part of the siding system.
Yes. For pre-primed James Hardie installations, we can complete the exterior with a professional paint system using premium Sherwin-Williams exterior coatings. James Hardie ColorPlus® finished products are also available depending on the project.
The cost depends on the home’s size, siding profile, trim design, access, existing siding, architectural complexity, underlying damage, and other project-specific conditions. The best way to establish accurate pricing is through an exterior evaluation and detailed proposal.
If you’re considering a complete siding replacement, don’t wait until visible deterioration becomes a larger moisture problem.
