Description
Full Siding Replacement with Structural Repairs – Hidden Rot Remediation Project in Portland Oregon
During this exterior renovation, our team at Elite Home Exteriors NW uncovered extensive hidden rot beneath the existing vinyl siding in multiple areas of the home. What initially appeared to be a standard siding replacement quickly turned into a full structural repair project—highlighting the importance of proper installation and moisture management.
After safely removing the old siding, we identified compromised sheathing and damaged wall studs caused by long-term moisture intrusion. To restore the home’s structural integrity, we performed targeted wall stud repairs and completed full structural subwall plywood replacement where needed.
To ensure long-term protection, we installed a high-performance moisture management system using Benjamin Obdyke HydroGap drainable house wrap. This advanced system promotes airflow and drainage behind the siding, significantly reducing the risk of future rot. All windows and penetrations were properly sealed using HydroFlash membrane window flashing for a watertight barrier.
