Description
Siding Replacement Project – Beaverton, OR
This exterior siding remodel in Beaverton, Oregon was driven by the homeowner’s desire to remove failing engineered wood siding that had begun to rot and deteriorate over time. Like many products installed in the 1990s, this type of engineered wood siding was later recalled and involved in widespread lawsuits due to premature moisture failure. You have probably heard about this siding product but James Hardie is the superior product which is why homeowners are remodeling their siding. The homeowner wanted a permanent solution that would eliminate ongoing maintenance concerns and protect the home long term.
Elite Home Exteriors NW removed the rotting engineered wood siding and prepared the exterior for a durable, modern replacement system. To ensure proper moisture management, we installed HydroGap® drainable house wrap along with HydroFlash® membrane flashing at all windows, doors, and critical transitions.
The home was resided with James Hardie Cedarmill® 7″ Lap Siding, paired with James Hardie Rustic corner trim, window trim, and door trim for a clean yet traditional aesthetic. Unlike engineered wood products, James Hardie fiber cement siding is non-combustible, moisture resistant, and will not rot, making it an ideal solution for the Pacific Northwest climate.
To complete the project, the siding and trim were finished using Sherwin-Williams® Latitude® exterior paint, providing excellent adhesion, color retention, and long-term weather protection.
The result is a beautiful, low-maintenance exterior that gives the homeowner peace of mind—knowing the home is now protected with a siding system designed to last for decades.
