What is a Weather Barrier (House Wrap)?
A Weather Barrier House Wrap is a material that is installed prior to siding installation. This helps protect your subwall incase water, rain; moisture gets behind your siding. A lot of the times caulking will crack and peel without homeowners knowing and will channel water behind the siding. This is why there is a high possibility of Subwall rot.

What is a Rain Screen?
Oregon State Residential Specialty Code Section R703.1. January 1st 2010, Oregon State passed a requirement to install a “Rain Screen” system to a subwall when installing siding. This bumps out the siding roughly 1mm to allow any water, rain, and moisture to drain out away from your home or structure. Many Rain Screen House Wraps have a perm rating allowing your home to breathe if water gets behind your Weather Barrier. Chances are incredibly slim that water will get behind James Hardie Plank siding, if installed up to James Hardie and Elite Installation guideline Code. James Hardie has spent years in research and development to make their product more durable and superior to any other product.
