Elite Home Exteriors NW works with all different James Hardie Products. We service the Portland Oregon Metro, Vancouver Washington and all surrounding areas. There are a number of options to pick for siding exposure. The “Exposure” or Reveal means how much of the lap siding is visible.
The standard new construction siding and most economic option is a 7” reveal exposure (8 1/4” James Hardie Plank board with a 1 ¼” overlap per James Hardie Elite Contractor Preferred Guidelines).
James Hardie provides exposure options
- Lap 5”, 6”, 7”, 8” and 10 ¾” in the Lap siding
- Panel 4’ x 8’, 4 x 9’
- Straight Edge Shake Shingle 7″
- Staggered Edge Shake 6″
- Board and Batten (Panel and Battens up to 16″ apart)
- Half Rounds 7″
Older Portland Oregon and Vancouver Washington homes built in the early to mid 1900’s usually have a narrower reveal around 3“- 5” or Lead Base Paint Cedar Shake Siding.
One thing you should know about the exposure options is the narrower the exposure, the more product overlap (means more materials) and more the cost of Labor to install. Get a quote on multiple exposures and you decide!
